If you're trying to buy a PlayStation 5 from Amazon, today may be your lucky day. The company just sent out a batch of emails to select customers, inviting them to buy the console.

The invites are part of Amazon’s new waitlist system in the US to purchase the PS5 and Xbox Series X. Back in June, the company introduced it to help consumers obtain high-demand, low-supply products that can attract the attention of bots and scalpers.

The invite system is open to all customers, free of charge. Just go to Amazon’s listing for a PS5, and request an invitation by clicking the button. The company will then notify you if you’ve been selected to buy a unit once it restocks.

On Monday, Amazon sent out a new batch of invites to customers who previously requested an invite. This was confirmed through the company’s Amazon Video Games account on Twitter. So eligible users should check their email inboxes, including their spam folders, to see if they received an email from Amazon.

On the same day, Amazon also sent out invites for users waiting to buy an Xbox Series X, although the console remains in stock on Walmart. No matter the console, people have 72 hours to complete their purchase.

However, the invite system doesn’t appear to be first come, first served. We requested an invite to buy a PS5 in early June when the system first debuted, but have yet to receive one. Meanwhile, other users on social media have reported receiving invites, despite only signing up for them weeks ago. So Amazon is likely sending out the invites in true lottery fashion.

Sony’s PlayStation 5 remains hard to buy nearly two years after its initial launch. But you can still nab one if you put in some effort. This can include using an online product inventory checker or following PS5 restock trackers on social media. Check out our tips for more information.
